Primary Health Care Nurse, Derby Base
A full time Primary Health Care Nurse (PHCN) is employed at Derby Base. The role of the PHCN is to:
· Provide clinical nursing services based on primary health care principles at remote communities in conjunction with medical officers, specialists, remote area nurses and health workers.
· Provide health education to individuals/groups and participate in Kimberley region health promotion programs.
· Liaise closely with the Kimberley Public Health Unit and participate in screening and surveillance programs as requested.
· Coordinate the Kimberley clinic roster in conjunction with RFDS (Western Operations) medical officers, Derby Regional Hospital medical officers and specialists, Aboriginal Medical Services and staff located at remote communities.
· Participate in nursing preceptorship programs.
